Invisible Wounds

Updated: Jun 2, 2023

I have a brain injury. It altered my life and changed the trajectory of my story.

You can't see my injury. You can't touch my wounds. But I feel them every minute of every day of my life.

Invisible injuries, disabilities, or illness can be difficult. Not just in the pain and suffering itself but also in the fact that others don’t seem to understand what they can’t see. It can leave you feeling lost and alone and misunderstood.

But I promise YOU ARE NOT ALONE. You may also miss your old life terribly. I know I do every single day. And that okay. It’s okay to feel bad and mad and sad but I hope you can also feel glad. Glad that you’re still here and still trying.

Maybe your life is quieter now.

Maybe your life is slower now.

Maybe your life is harder now.

But maybe just…

Maybe your life is deeper now.

Maybe your life is calmer now.

Maybe your life is still your life.

Your life may be different than it was before or maybe you've been here so long you don't remember life before. That's okay.

Different doesn't have to mean defeat.

Despite pain, despite struggle, and despite your circumstance I pray that you know how important you are. I pray that you feel the love, peace, and comfort of the Lord’s presence surround you today and everyday.
